THE USE OF PRESENT SIMPLE

 FORM:

 AFFIRMATIVE:

The subject+v (base form)+object. If the subject is third person we have to add a s to the verb.

 Ex:My sister plays football.

 NEGATIVE:

 The subject+don't/doesn't+verb+object.

We use doesn't with the third perso. For the rest we use don't.

 Ex: I  doesn't play football.

 INTERROGATIVE:

Do/does+subject+v+object... -

We use the present simple for things that we do frequently.

For this reason is common the use of adverbs of frequency(always, usually, never, hardly ever...)

USES:

-To express something that is true.
EX: It never snows in a desert. -

-Fixed arrangements or scheduled events.
EX:The plane flies to London every Monday. -

-With Stative verbs:
They are verbs which we use in simple tenses , because they express a state nor an action.
EX:Does Jennifer like Chinese food?

-Sequence of actions in the present
Ex:First I get up, then I have breakfast.
